You don't say when you are drinking it. Drinks with a lot of carbs in them are fine during workouts and right after - as long as they don't have fructose in them - but are to be limited at other times. You get a blood sugar spike, insulin is released, and then your blood sugar goes down again. At the best, that leaves you hungry again, and at the worst, puts you on the road to weight gain and type 2 diabetes.

Badalucco, on the other hand, is a bit confused. Sucrose is a disaccharide that is made up of glucose and sucrose, and is quickly decomposed into glucose and sucrose in the digestive system. Glucose is not starch - starch is a glucose polymer (ie chain of glucose) and doesn't contain any fructose.

When glucose is "burned" in the presence of air (ie "aerobic"), the process is known as glycolysis, which gives you pyric acid (pyruvate, more technically).

I don't know where Badalucco is getting this stuff, but he (she?) isn't even close on the chemistry.
