Well I did the Hunter Allen workout last night. And all i can say is I suck at the sprinting. And I thought that was a strength. Oy Vey i'm fracked! Looks like Pass/Fail racing for this fat old guy.
My peak 5 sec was 1025 watts. Now granted the sprints were short and not all out maxing a 53x11, and my Polar only records at a rate of 5 sec, but I expected a little more watts than that. I did manage new 20 and 30 sec power numbers.
I think i need someone to sprint against to help push me to do harder.
In retrospect, I didnt do the workouts wrong, but on reflection, they just didnt seem hard enough to evoke some high wattages.
Next time I do this I will make sure the sprint workouts come the day before I do a 6 x 6 min mock time trial interval session.
