What a tough weekend! 95 degreeson Saturday and 99 on Sunday. We did a SoCal BF ride on Saturday. A group of about 20. She usually doesn't do well in the heat so I was worried but she was game. Heck, I aint stopping her! Ride was fine til we hit the return. I think everybody on this ride suffered at one point or another. I knew she'd suffer near the end as the trail gently rolls up. At this point, we fell a bit behind most of the riders which was fine. At this point, we usually drop back before the big climb. A 1/8(?) mile climb to the top of a dam dam!

She takes her time climbing knowing better than to try to keep up with the pace set by the others. At one point she says she's not sure if she can make it. I find a shady spot then plan to ride back for the truck. She says, "heck with it, I'm going even if I have to walk up the hill". I dismount my bike with intentions of walking with her. Not because I have to but because I tell her I'm tired too and not feeling up to it either just so she doesn't feel bad.
I take about 2 steps then I see her whiz by! What the? She remounted and attacked the climb! I had to remount and chase her! It wasn't easy cause I was really tired!

....We made it, 72 miles in 95 degree heat. 16.9 average.
So Sunday comes and I have thoughts of staying in bed. But again she gets up and says she's game. I plan an easy 32 mile spin. Again it's hot but this time, the winds are up about 25 mph as the trees dance. Hmm, again second thoughts but she says ,"let's do it!". Nice tailwind to the coast. We hang for a bit and chill knowing the return will be tough. About 6 miles from the end, she says she needs to stop in the shade for a rest. Too tired to dismount she just hangs her head on the handlebars. The wind and heat has beat her pretty well now.
Again I tell her I will return with the truck to pick her up. Nope! She says,"I can do it, just lemme rest a minute". We hang for a few, while I tell her a few jokes. hey must have sucked cause she says, "we gotta go!".

....She pulls it out once again. Chalk up another hot one!
I'm impressed knowing she struggles in the heat. I expect her to back out of the rides but goes for it anyway! I tell her she shouldn't feel pressured to do the tough rides or rides under extreme conditions. She says" I know I don't but it gives me a chance to spend more time withyou!"....NOW THAT'S LOVE BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2 days, 104 miles in 95 degree heat and wind! She's one tough cookie!
