Bikes: Cannondale comfort 400

Ok, now what do I do?

Just got a new bike, and have the urge to tear up the roads, but think a backwards fall into a flower bed has cracked my tailbone. I've been through this a number of years ago, and it took about a year to heal.

I've read this type of injury can be caused by being overweight which I am so do I let my bike sit in the garage, hoof it on foot, and cry or do I sit on a coccyx cushion at home, and ride the bike anyway?

Yeah, yeah, I know a doctor would tell me to stay off the bike, but for how long?

Anyone know if I'm risking permanent injury by riding? And how high the risk of permanent injury is?
