I ride a bike to work 150+ days and take the bus about 70 days. The minimal bus fare is about $4.50 per day, but when I take the bus I occasionally take the extra fare express bus, so on average I spend $5.25 per day in bus fare. I spend about $200/year on bike commuting (including all maintenance and occasional bike replacement, since I ride beaters). So my total costs are $567.50.

Compared to taking the bus year round ($1155), my net savings are $587.50.

How about compared to driving? I would have to buy a second family car. Parking would be $1000/year. Capital costs, insurance and maintenance would be about $3000/year, gas maybe $500, totalling $4500 at least. So I'm saving around $4000 annually by biking (and bussing).
