That was precisely my plan, since the 500 range gets me an updated version of what I have. However, the benefit of that would be brifters, better wheels, and some 175 cranks, instead of the wrong sized 170's (I should be 175-180's). I will probably spend more for the better bike, although the lemond is intriging.
One thing I have always wondered about is the weight of bikes.
Say I weigh 200 lbs, and the bike weighs 25. If I spend $1200 or so, I get a 19 lb'er, and my total weight is 219, instead of 225. I feel like I am breezing along as compared to the 25 lb bike.
Say I weigh 200 lbs, and the bike is 25 lbs. If I lose 6 lbs, my total weight is 219, instead of 225, YET, the bike is sluggish as always.
I am correct in this assumption?!?
EDIT:
I am convinced that the key point is WHERE the weight is distrubted. The weight of the rims/tires cause you to use more force if they are heavier.
