1. BIKE: 1992 Trek 820 with cross over tires for pavement and gravel/dirt
2. Do you take any special supplements/vitamins/minerals as you have grown older? No
3. How much do you feel you have "slowed down" if any? I can tell I’m not 25 any more. Injuries don't repair as quickly. I have to "work up to" a half century. I guess I've slowed down a little.
4. How long have you been biking? New, around a while, biked all your life? Was always on the bike as a child. Rode most seriously 18-28 with lots of touring as well as daily transportation. Rode little 29-55. Just started back in summer of 2007. Feels good, working up to longer rides, considering some long tours again.
5. What type of biking do you do? Long rides, touring, short rec rides, commute, tour, race? Several times a week 10-25 road miles. A few longer rides 30-40 miles. Some mixed paved and gravel day tours. All of this is from home. I carry my bike when traveling to enjoy trails and greenways and rails to trails.
6. How often do you bike? Your approximate annual mileage? At least 3/ week spring summer and fall. A little less in winter. Haven’t been back at it for a year yet. I estimate my annual mileage to be about 2000 and growing.
7. Do you do any other type of physical activities - weight lifting, skiing, running, etc.? I have a very physically demanding outdoor job that involves traveling on foot in steep often rugged terrain.
I don’t really ride for the exercise. I ride because it is fun and feels good to travel through the landscape at a reasonable speed. The effect on my health is incidental, but welcome.
