I was biking around NW DC on Saturday near the National Cathedral. I was approaching a light and needed to take a left turn... so I made sure no one was behind me, signaled, and swung into the left lane as the light turned yellow. As I coasted to a stop (I was not going fast enough to get through the yellow even if I wanted to), the light changed to red, and about 4 seconds later some jerk in his Mercedes comes up behind me and swerves into the
opposing lane to get around me and runs the light to make a left turn. WTF?! This wasn't one of those, "the light was still yellow" moments -- nooo, the light had been red long enough for everyone else to come to a stop.
I was stunned. Seriously... what the hell is wrong with people? This is not the first time I've been nearly run down by some errant Mercedes driver. It's a friggin Saturday afternoon, why are you in such a rush?!
Any car that has a gunsite for a hood ornament probably should be avoided...
