One of the reviews on the above link said there were index settings for Shimano, Campy, and generic (whatever that is). I wonder if there is a setting for pre-9-speed Dura Ace like the OP wants to use it for? OP, you may need to change out the rear derailleur as the cable pull ratio for pre-9-speed Dura Ace is different from all other Shimano indexing.
