Can I hijack this thread?
Marty was a disaster. Mentally, I felt a little woozy but I knew I had to do it. The day before it was pouring and I thought if I rode a bit in it, that the next day would be easy. I did not feel good on Friday, my left knee was sore which I thought was just from being soaking wet. I warmed up and knew that wind was going to be killer. Stupid (STUPIDLY) me, is waiting around for the race to start and they decide to stage there and everyone just gets behind me. Great, on the front into the crosswind. I should have just ducked to the back of the pack but I figured I could drop in. No, I stupidly rode out in front the first mile. And then someone kicked it up on the hill, pretty much using me as a shield from the crosswind. The pack exploded and I tried grabbing onto a wheel but my body did not respond at all. It was pretty sad actually and I knew it was going to be a long day. I managed to get in a chase group and made it through 2 laps when I couldn't even keep tempo up anymore. My knee was cracking and my hips were just burning and I fell off. I tried stretching on the bike, just doing whatever to get my legs to respond but nothing was working. Everytime I got my HR up around tempo, my legs would just hurt real bad. Thought about quitting but of course, not really an option and tried to use the tailwind to catch back up with the group. The group had broken up and I spotted them in the distance. Never did catch them but had a nice ride into the wind for a while.
Hoping that it was just the end of my Build1 period and I was just totally exhausted. I am just taking it easy this week and will see what happens on the weekend. The knee was not working Sat night but aggressive ice made it happy on Sunday. Feels a bit twingy when pushing a hard gear so hopefully that is just temporary.
