To an extent, but at some point one has to HTFU as an individual and do what's right for themselves; there are plenty of well adjusted, self contained folks here in the bay - read some of the NorCal road reports. I'm not a racer and have had nothing but good experiences with other cyclists on the road here. The climbing is very nice (painful), and the payoffs (views) are superb.
No doubt California is one of the best places to live. If it becomes it's own country, the rest of the US may have a hard time to be in the top ten. We missed the move window. My ister does not represent everyone in California, but for someone who pays more taxes than what I earn in a year, living in prime location and can retire now, I wanted to see a more contented person.
