Bikes: Salsa Casseroll

Please tell us your age.

52

1. What type of bikes do 50+ folks ride?

This particular 50+ folk rides a Trek 7300 hybrid

2. Do you take any special supplements/vitamins/minerals as you have grown older?

Yep. If I can remember them all...Vitamin A, B1, C, D, E and Omega3 fish oil. I'm hoping that increasing activity level will allow me to get off the Norvasc for blood pressure, but haven't cleared that one with my medicine man yet.

3. How much do you feel you have "slowed down" if any?

I feel better now than I have in years, so in most things no, I don't feel that I've slowed down. Unfortunately, despite how I feel, not all parts work as well as they used to, aches and pains are more likely and take longer to heal.

4. How long have you been biking? New, around a while, biked all your life?

I learned without training wheels at age 5, rode everywhere until I discovered internal combustion propulsion at age 16. I only started cycling again about two years ago.

5. What type of biking do you do? Long rides, touring, short rec rides, commute, tour, race?

Short rec rides during the week, longer (but slower) rides with my girlfriend (hence the slower part) on the weekends.

6. How often do you bike? Your approximate annual mileage?

3 to 5 times per week. I estimate about 800 miles in 2007...I'm hoping to more than double that in 2008.

7. Do you do any other type of physical activities - weight lifting, skiing, running, etc.?

I have recently added weight lifting and yoga-esque stretching to the cardio workout on one of those old style nordic ski machines.

Perhaps, if you haven't already, you might indicate your age on your reply??

See above.
