10 flat? Nice job. The sub 10 barrier is a hard one to break, it's more mental than anything I think took me quite a few attempts (I kept hitting 10:00 to 10:05). It helps to have competition to run with, once I got in with some real fast guys I dropped a 9:48 and the whole time thought I was running a bad race, It was a surprise when my coach came up to me and told me my time. Speedwork will help a lot, I dropped my 2 mile a lot the season I focussed on the mile. Good luck, your seasons about over right?

A different type of pain is exactly right. Running is a much more accute I'm going to die, pass out, puke, whatever pain where as cycling is more of a muted numb pain, not the best description but it's hard to describe.
