i've never had a problem with unwrapped bars. i don't get that sweaty, haha.
i did put some plugs on the chopped bars by the way... i kind of like having them uncapped because they make the sound of blowing over an empty jug when i ride...it's soothing. but yes, i did cap them, looks much better now.
