Eggbeater Pedals
I'm trying to re-grease my eggbeater pedals. On the end of each pedal there is a plastic cap which screws off and is temporarily replaced with a cap that fits a grease gun. You inject grease into this special cap and the old grease runs out small holes on the other side of the pedal, near the cranks. This worked fine for the right pedal. I replaced the grease with Phil Wood bearing grease - the pedal is a little stiff now but much smoother. I assume it will loosen up a little as I ride it. On the left pedal, I can't get the end cap to screw off and I've done a pretty good job of stripping it at the corners of the slot where you put the screwdriver. Any ideas on how to get this thing off? I'm sure I could drill through it and order a replacement from the company. I was also thinking of using alittle JB Weld to reconstruct the plastic I've stripped off and try again. Suggestions?
