we paused for a moment just before the bridge and saw a hawk showing off for a photographer: it lifted off towards the east and hovered in the wind for a lingering moment. as we started to leave i told him that it was "his lucky day", to which he responded with a story about seeing three crows earlier in the morning acting strangely - when he took a closer look he saw that they were eating a snake... to quote brad: if that's not some sort of omen, i don't know what is!
we also saw a pair of merlins or pergrines feeding at cherry beach.
30km/hr tailwind? spin, baby, spin!!
