I think the old steel Trek frames are nice - but they have been overrated perhaps by everyone snatching them up to convert to fixed. Certainly the older and higher up in their line the better. Mine is mid 80s and only 531 in the main tubes; nice enough bike but prolly not worth dumping as much as I did into it (about $750 - youch!)
