I use a U lock with a cable lock. Get a security screw for the seat so it can't be released. I use a U lock to the frame and one of the wheels if possible and cable lock the other wheel / part of the frame. Works for me.

If my bike were worth closer to a grand or more I would totally do what wrenchdevil6 is doing. You've gotta ask yourself, if people are breaking into basements to steal the copper pipes off the water heater, what would they do if they realized how much your bike cost?
