It gets to the question of value in bicycles. I have always been astonished what people will pay for a top of the line bicycle. Especially when you consider what the same money will buy in a motorcycle... $10,000 will get a really nice (but not top of the line) bicycle. That same $10,000 will get a motorcycle that is faster and handles as well/better than MotoGP machines from a few years ago... basically, as fast as you want to go, it will go.

I dunno. I was talking with my wife and her friend yesterday about priorities. Her friend said that if we wanted to go on vacation, buy the nice bicycles etc. etc. we just needed to reprioritize... just look in the garage where we have a Volvo cross country and a Mini Cooper S - if we had bought Hyundai's instead we'd have been able to do all those other things that we now claim we can't afford.

It is all priorities. And for you a $20k bike may be better than a $15k car, depending on your priority set. For me, I can't yet extract all the capabilities out of my $1000 bicycle, so it would be a waste.
