I would say ease off of the running for a while, and keep cycling to stay in shape. After giving your feet a rest for a while, get some decent running shoes, and slowly get back into running. Listen to your body's warning signs...but your comment that you don't have a good pair of running shoes sounded like a red flag to me...get some good shoes.
