I am aware of a very limited number of them breaking. I have never heard of SPD-SL breakage. I am really surprised that you would get this upset about pedals tho. I did not realize that my opinion would be taken so strongly.

At the end of my badly written response I did note that they are both very similar in design and the argument could be made both ways on preference. It's sounds like you are very happy with your pedals as I am with mine. I hope that is ok with you. I think we could both agree with Brian on this one.

Perhaps one is not better than the other technically. But based on budget and preference in weight and springs tension one would prefer one over the other. if price is not an issue I think the Keo's are the way to go. that is all. please take a deep breath before you next response.

if i were in the position of the OP - and did sway towards the shimano brand - I would go either Dura-Ace or 105 - considering the PBK pricing.
EDIT: also when I said that the pedal feels better when engaged, I meant "feeling ofwhen cleat is pressed into the pedal" I did not state more tension is applied as I have never measured the tension between the two products. However the feeling one gets when the cleat is engaged is one of less tolerance and thus a more secure feeling, regardless of float.
Thanks everyone for all your responces.
I already have shimano ultegra sl 6620 on my bike. I had it for about three months. I noticed pbk has LOOK keo carbon on sale. I was wondering if there is a perfomance difference between those two pedals? Considering carbon is lighter than ultegra and a little more expensive. .
