Sift together:
1 cup sugar
1-1/2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup of oil or shortening

Break 2 eggs (in a 1 cup measuring cup; fill to top with milk). Mix together with dry ingredients and 1 tsp. vanilla. Makes 8 x 8" cake; double recipe for 9 x 13". Bake at 350° for approx. 20 minutes. Serve warm, topped with fresh strawberries!
