Your disc rotors might be slightly warped, hitting the pads at the high spots. The ting-ting sound you hear is common and nothing to worry about. You might try and recenter your calipers. Sometimes I'll "snap" my brake levers (letting them release with without my fingers on them), and that sometimes helps.
