Easy litmus test: can you say, "I'm going to play ______"? If so, it's a "game", not a "sport".
Thus Football, baseball, basketball, soccer, rugby, cricket, australian rules football, hockey, waterpolo, lacrosse, etc. are not sports.
I think your litmus test fails.
