For eVent stuff anyway, Showers Pass makes some nice cycling jackets. Integral Designs does more mountaineering style stuff.
I looked at epic before i went with my event shell. At that time most people who tested and reviewed both put the breathability of both about equal. Maybe things have changed in the last couple years. Any event jacket i looked at was also much thicker/heavier than the epic and im not sure if any breathability tests were done with similar thickness or not. They are never done with enough detail.

I assume epic might be more breathable but Epic also wets out in 30-60 min during heavy rain as its not waterproof. To me its about the same as getting a pertex or other drw coated nylon jacket without the need to redo the coating. Where as the event is a hardshell.
