Acetone and alcohols are too polar to work on the adhesive used in pressure adhesives. They just get gummy and don't go anywhere. Even the mineral spirits takes a lot of elbow grease.
A safety note: Use the heat gun on the stickers but do not use the heat gun after applying the solvent...at least until the solvent has evaporated. Heat, fuel, oxygen...and a little glowing heater elements are all you need to burn down your garage Best to do all operations outside anyway...unless you have a walk-in fume hood.
