I'm not giving this advice to help people beat the law, but in the hope that in their attempt to beat the law, they might actually increase their own safety.

That being said, use earbuds but only place it in 1 ear. In FL, a single ear device for "non-entertainment" purposes is not illegal. Of course music is entertainment, but maybe you'll hear the car skidding off the road behind you and be able to get out of the way.
