I was messing around with my Super Course this evening, and I have a frustrating problem. I removed the shifters for cleaning and rust removal which turned out pretty decent. I installed it all exactly as it came off.
They're very simple, with only one friction disc. They work smoothly? The problem is that the shifter has to moved to the halfway point before it moves the RD. There's no binding, new lined housing on the rear section, new cable, etc etc. The cable is fed through the slot on the RD, tightened down, cable is lightly taught when in the smallest ring. At the rate it's going the lever would have to be all the way back 180* from rest to hit the big rear cog.
Do they all act like this? I really don't have anything period correct to replace it with either.
