Bikes: Soma Grand Randonneur, modified Xootr Swift, Trek 1000SL with broken brifter from running it into a hotel porte-cochère

I first started commuting on a Trek 7000. It's a perfectly good bike for a 12-mile RT commute, but I loaded the panniers down with all kinds of junk and did have some spoke breakage. I had the bike shop replace all the rear spokes with stronger ones. It cost something like $65, IIRC. After that, I had no problems.
