The threading on a track hub has a 1.375" diameter. a 12t cog has a pitch circle diameter of 1.9", measured at approximately the middle of the tooth. That means you have less than 1/4" of material between the threads and the bottom of the tooth. Less than that and things will break. Also, you will start to have interference between the chain and the outer edge of the lockring.
