I like eggbeaters so far. I wanted a solution that I could have on my road bike, spin bike and MTB. There are a few options, but I really liked the design of the eggbeater and its family of pedals. I think SPD is the most tried and true solution out there and you will not have any issues with a mid-level or better SPD pedal. The Cleat on the eggbeater is not very durable so I hear.
