yeah, don't like that at all. i think an education campaign would be effective if you could convince these guys just how cool it is to ride with a front brake or you feet secured. i think the front brake-only-freewheel irks me more (even if it's less dangerous) because it's trying to look like a fixed gear.
brainstorm: get one of the boutiques on queen w to start selling clips/straps with skate shoes/sneakers as a "fixed gear package". a bit hipsterific I know, but it may solve a problem...
