One can only hope something gets worked out. It would be sad to see the deathride wither away and become just a memory.

Or worse yet, become a poorly run event and watch the drop in ridership kill the event. Personally, I don't think the chamber of commerce is best suited to run the event, unless its loaded with cyclist (probably not). Can you imagine what the jersey will look like if they have to design it?? What goes down the arm warmer? a campaign slogan??

bleh.. bummer news, I wanted to do this ride someday.
