As far as hand gun permits go..well...she'll be commuting only about 1 1/2-2 miles one way, and it will only be during broad daylight. Luckily we don't live in a high crime area. Of course there are always exceptions and she's fully aware that there could be danger. Rather that having her packing heat (which she'd never do anyway) I'd rather make sure she's as confident a rider as possible so that she can avoid dangerous situations. Since the commute is short, I might do it with her anyways.
