I picked up a Shimano STX mtb triple crankset for my SS project. I really only bought it for the crankarms, but if I can use the large chain ring that'd make things easy. The question is, there's a sticker on the chainring that says "IG Chian ONLY", now I assume that's because of how the chainring is ramped and pinned. Now I plan to remove the two smaller chainrings and do whatever with them, but are the ramps and pins going to 'cause a problem for me?

This is my first SS project and the bike is for my g/f who really doesn't ride (I figure if i build her a nice, simple bike I can at least get her to go around the block with me).
