Well, I pull the topcap,loosen stem bolts, remove stem, put on new stem, make sure top of steerer is proper distance below top of stem for proper topcap clearance, install topcap and preload bearings,then tighten stem. Viola'...No rocket science involved. Don't like my answer, try the repair section at
