I've thought of going the same route as you and getting a set of clinchers to match the tubulars for training, just cause I love them so much and hate taking them off after a race...
I did it because I don't have any similar wheels to train on (weight and tall profile), and I found myself all squirelly for the first 10-15 minutes when I got on the wheels. And to be honest I like the way a tall carbon wheel looks on a bike, and the box section, well, they look so "wintery" to me.
If you can get a set of DV46cs (my perceived value is $900/
pr used, and mine came with tires, tubes, and ti cassette for $55 more) do it.
