GREAT JOB!

Considering the bike you are riding, a 15 mph average speed is pretty darn good for the length of time you've been riding. Increasing distance or your pace will be the next step. Many here will never be Olympic athletes (raises hand!) but we need to keep proving to ourselves that we can push and go beyond where we currently are.

Don't let your weight, age, the wind and rain, or anything stop you from your goals.

There are other measures to look at also.

For me, it is weight loss and Heart Rate Training. I try and stay in my target Heart rate to help me burn off the fat while also improving or hopefully improving the condition of my heart. I've been told that I have an enlarged heart due to a few life decisions, so I am really trying to help myself out.

My one loop I set my timer for the outward leg. I go as far as I can in a 1/2 hour at 80-90% of my Maximum Heart rate. At the first break, I'll rest a little, take some water, and head back to see if I can be at 90-95% heart rate and BEAT my time coming back. This is on an off-road loop with a Mountain Bike, there are water hazzards and such to ford also. The total distance is only about 16 miles, but it's tough and will get tougher as the temps and humidity rises.
