The first time I did Topanga just about killed me. The second time, I made it all the way up without a stop, but had to rest a couple of times on the return ascent. The third time I made it both ways without needing to stop for a rest, but near the top of the return ascent I got passed by a couple other bikers in full kit.
Topanga was pretty nice, when I ride in the Santa Monicas, its from my in-laws in Westlake so I usually climb up the 23 and ride around Mulholland Highway, etc.

I think a lot of people will start finding that commuting is a viable option as gas prices continue to rise...
