my wife and i are heading to San Jose to ride the livestrong event.. we have to ship our bikes.. any recomendations?

fedex or ups type shipping
vs
on the plane.

also looking for a case to pack it and alot of them look like you have to take the stem and handlebars apart instead of just rotating them.

any suggestions would be helpful.. and if you have a bike case for a loner that would be a killer donation to our event. - we are in Mass.
