They custom cut all of the lenses specifically for the application/buyer. Only way to fly in my book...
In my personal experience, this doesn't work for high prescriptions (and I'm only at -4.5). The lens is curved, and with a high prescription, it has to get really thick on the edges to compensate. This results in vertigo.
