Close calls and others perceptions

I had a close call today

A car that was sat on my rear wheel, passed me then stopped in the middle of the road, lights on but not indicating as to what she was doing, (I'm fairly sure she was attempting to park as she had stopped near spaces that the train commuters use near the train station). I slowed down and there was no movement from her, so I went to slowly go around her only to be almost hit by a car following at speed behind who missed me by a foot.

I don't blame the lady driver, the parking space must have been to small because she moved off at around the same time as the other car was passing me, (I had seen her stopping to park and then moving off again in my mirror before she passed me). She handled the situation badly, but such is life. I'm a little angry at the driver behind who could have acted with a little more patience, and not driven at maniac speeds. I blame myself a little, the conditions were foul, wet, very windy and dark and I should have double checked my mirror to check for the other car although with my many flashing lights it was obvious I was going around and not over the top of the parked car.

The thing was I was a little late and apologised to my co-workers, saying I had a close call. I even emailed the wife as well and stated I was fine, that I had managed to get into the "zen' mindset about the whole thing and was ok she never mentioned it in her rely.

Just wondering if anyone else gets indifference when you tell people you almost got wiped out on the roads when cycling? I don't get almost killed very often I'm hardly "the boy who cried CAR!" Maybe its a empathy thing? Ahh well I have you guys!
