my son who is finishing up his first year of K, commuted to school by bike this year any day it was above 40 and not raining. Last weekend he explained to my 40 yo friends why it's good for the earth; a few weeks prior asked why we couldn't ride to do our errands.
Kids are smart. They know riding a bike is more fun than sitting in a car and are perfectly capable of understanding its benefits.
