There's nothing wrong with recognizing your accomplishments over the last year. Nobody in that pack is magical -- you can be faster than everyone in there. Keep at it.
Reflect on what limited you. What was it that happened in the minute before you found that last gap you couldn't close? Figure that out, then figure out what small change would prevent it from happening next time, and make the change.
