I know they are different and actually said that if you read my post. You are still not getting the concept that there is way more to vibration transfer then just density. Metals have bonding in them which effects how everything happens. Also I would guess that speed and propogation are not the same so why does it matter where it travels the fastest. It is all about energy absorbtion. It is actually a huge part of ski design, every company has its gimich in order to try to sell more. Basically density is not the be all end all and I believe that was actually the point and the fact that the example orginally picked out was as inane as comparing light to sound.
