Hello folks,
I have a slightly unusual request, I'm thinking of importing some cheap Single Speed/Track bikes to sell in the UK and Ireland, they are very expensive here in comparison to the US.
I'm interested in getting one of these to try out:
http://www.crosslakesales.com/Cycling/Track%20Bikes/
They sell them on eBay for $250 but they will not ship to Europe.
Now what I'd like to do is find out who makes them for them in China and maybe order a sample from them before placing a bigger order but I have no idea how to find out who makes them (and they don't seem too keen to tell me).
I've worked out that the wheelset is made by these guys in China:
http://stars-rim.com/china/default.asp
But they have yet to reply to my email (I doubt it is they who make the bike).
I've tried searching AliBaba, MadeinChina etc but cannot find any Chinese/Indian/Taiwanese manufacturers of track/ss bikes.
I know it's a long shot, but any ideas of how to find out who make these bikes would be much appreciated.
The other contenders in the budget Track/SS seem to be the SE Draft (I'm awaiting prices from the UK distributor, suspect they will be a lot higher than the $200 or so the bike can be acquired for in the US).
I'm also keen to find who makes this bike:
http://cgi.ebay.ie/Road-Track-Bike-B...742.m153.l1262
It seems to be another budget bike, all the seller will tell me is that he imports them from the US (but I'm sure at that price they are coming from the far east).
Or even the Motobecane Messenger (though this is getting more expensive) or the Windsor The Hour (though I'd prefer SS with brakes to pure track)
As I said, any ideas on how to source these bikes would be much appreciated.
I know from reading the forums here that they are going to be inferior to the Fuji Track, Specialised Langster, but considering the cheapest single speed or track bikes here cost about $950 (with current conversion rates) I think there is probably a market for cheaper single speeds (most people will not pay that much for a bike)
Thanks in advance for any help,
Robert
