After a lot of different training and stuff, I think Eddy Merckx got it right. Ride, Ride, Ride. You have to recover though, so that's my bit. I try and recover a lot it seems, based on my schedule.
The best years I had I basically only raced. Tues Floyd Bennet Field or 2-2.5 hours of sprints (one 1-mile "finish" every 7-8 min), Friday easy 15-45 min, Saturday race (twice if possible), Sunday race only once, Monday hard 2 hours, repeat.
Now I can only go 1-2 days hard before the hard days become only marginally faster than a slow day, so I have to recover more.
