My point was that many people that I have encountered -- this lady too, it seems -- think that helmet==safety and safety==helmet and no matter what else one does they are still "unsafe" since they don't wear a helmet.
I mentioned her later actions because I have taken s*** from people about risking my life by not wearing a helmet and then witnessed them do incredibly dangerous things on a bike (but it was ok because they were wearing that magical styrofoam hat).

Well, I for one am much happier she is wearing a helmet. She'd be a bad cyclist no matter what; helmet or no helmet her cycling skills have nothing to do with it. At least if, scratch that... when she falls over, her head will be better protected.
