And don't waste my time repeating useless stats. Those aren't real world examples. Those are just numbers put together by possibly biased people. Ignore one factor and it skews the results.

DON'T TRUST STATS!
So whom should we trust? You?

What you are essentially saying is that we should completely disregard the conclusions reached by various specialists in fields such as medicine, materials science, psychology, physics, statistics and politics, throw out any work they may have done and published in peer-reviewed journals, ignore any ongoing scientific debate, neglect to educate ourselves even on the basic issues at hand and instead just proclaim what we think and expect people to trust us?

When you go to the doctor with a sore throat, and he tells you you have strep throat, do you jump up and claim he is wrong because you believe you have throat cancer and insist on radiotherapy?
When a plumber comes to your house to fix a leak, and he tells you a section of corroded pipe needs replacing, do you accuse him of bias and insist he simply resolders the joint instead?

I'm guessing not; we all rely on the expertise of others who are specialists in their chosen fields in order to live our lives. Why are you so keen to decry the specialists who have studied the issues relating to cycle helmets? You don't even seem interested in reading / following up the views of those who broadly support your position.

Oh, and for the record, more lives would probably be saved if pedestrians were forced to wear helmets than all the cycling deaths combined, especially if they were mandatory whilst climbing staircases. You could improve things even further by making people wear them whilst driving too.
