Always thought that the red tape belonged on a machine with red decals and pinstriping. Perhaps if it didn't have lining and had black decals instead (did Schwinn ever do so on the chrome Paramounts?), I would use black cotton, but not in this case.
P.S.: Wish I had a camera on me when I saw it, but one of the small (one-man-show) local shops had all-chrome Paramount C72158 in for build-up recently. Post-lined era, some of the red decals still intact. Beautiful. My size too
